| Compassionate Choices Outreach at the Family Farmed Expo | Friday, November 20, 2009 |
|
The average person eats about 35 farm animals per year, adding up to thousands in a lifetime. Leafleting with literature on factory farming is proven effective in creating new vegans and vegetarians, and convincing others to reduce their consumption of animal products. By educating the public about animals suffering on factory farms, we can inspire others to spare thousands, if not millions, of animals and ultimately work toward the end of exploitation. Join us! To find the event, please look for Darina, who will be wearing a Mercy For Animals messenger bag. For more information on this event, please contact Darina at DarinaS@MercyForAnimals.org or call 773.965.1001. An RSVP is not required, but it will help us determine the correct number of leaflets to bring. We will also notify you if we have to cancel the event due to bad weather (or you can call the day of the event to confirm). If this is your first time leafleting, you can keep it at whatever level you want. You can jump right in and secure your own street corner, but you can also leaflet directly with one of the experienced members until you feel more comfortable.
Where: Chicago Cultural Center, 77 E. Randolph St., Chicago
When: 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.

| Vegan Food Giveaway and Compassionate Choices Outreach at the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade | Thursday, November 26, 2009 |
|
Making delicious vegan food free and accessible to all is the best way for those interested in a compassionate lifestyle to see how easy it is!
The annual Chicago McDonald’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a wonderful opportunity to show Chicagoans that vegan food is delicious! For many people, the biggest obstacle in considering a vegan diet is that they enjoy the taste of meat, cheese and dairy. This is an opportunity to educate the public about the numerous tasty vegan alternatives to favorite dishes. We’ll have a colorful "Enjoy Free Vegan Samples" banner, and we’ll be handing out samples of delicious vegan foods that are available in local grocery stores and restaurants.
As always, we will be handing out free Compassionate Choices leaflets, Vegetarian Starter Kits and Vegetarian Guides to Chicago.
Many volunteers are needed for this event. If interested in volunteering, please contact Darina at DarinaS@MercyForAnimals.org or call 773.965.1001. Please also call Darina shortly before the event start time, as this will be a crowded event and we will determine where to station ourselves once we arrive.
Where: State St. (between Congress Pkwy. and Randolph St.), Chicago
When: 8:30 a.m. - TBD

| Fur Free Friday (Sponsored by Animal Defense League) | Friday, November 27, 2009 |
|
Fur Free Friday is not a Mercy For Animals sponsored event. This event is organized by Animal Defense League (ADL).
So start training your voice, get your pleather winter boots out and get ready to take to the streets. Because the animals need more than just your hearts and minds, they need your voices and your bodies as well. The 50
million animals who die for fur every single year need you to get out into the streets to fight for their freedom! The billion plus animals killed for leather each year need you to be their voice. So please, for their sake and the sake of animals suffering under human oppression everywhere,
get up, get active and fight to make animal liberation a reality!
The rally will go through Chicago's main shopping district of the Loop and Michigan Ave., and will make stops at fur store. All signs, literature, bullhorns and banners will be provided, the only thing we need is activists willing to stand up and demand freedom for the animals.
Please contact ADL at adlchicago@riseup.net for more information.
Where: Daley Plaza (Washington & Dearborn), Chicago
When: 12:00 p.m.
