On November 29, 2002, members of Mercy For Animals and Protect Our Earth's Treasures held a silent vigil against the violent and bloody fur industry outside the Columbus City Center Mall Lazarus store. The Fur-Free Friday event challenged consumers perception of animals called pets, and those labeled pelts, by asking "Would You Wear Your Dog?" Shoppers received literature detailing animal cruelty in the fur industry while MFA's Faunette aired graphic footage depicting animals suffering on fur farms and in leg-hold traps.
