MFA's 2007 Year in Review
Make a donation to Mercy For Animals
Thanks to the dedication and support of Mercy For Animals members, 2007 was a landmark year for animal rights.
This year MFA held more public outreach events, distributed more educational literature, reached more consumers through our powerful TV and print advertisement campaigns, and prevented more cruelty to animals than ever before!
In the past year, in our effort to create a culture where all animals are treated with the respect and compassion they deserve, MFA took the following actions:
- Exposed cruelty at one of the country's largest poultry slaughterhouses – hidden camera footage captured by an undercover MFA investigator revealed workers punching, kicking, throwing, and sexually assaulting live chickens and turkeys. As a result of our investigation, Denny’s restaurant chain ended its supplier relationship with the slaughterhouse.
- Launched a hard-hitting pro-vegetarian commercial on MTV – opening the eyes of hundreds of thousands of teen viewers to the cruelty animals endure behind the closed doors of our nation’s factory farms.
- Conducted over 220 public outreach events – such as lectures by our humane educators at high schools and colleges, video showings, educational exhibits at festivals and conferences, vegan feed-ins, and leafleting events.
- Distributed over 200,000 pieces of vegetarian literature – including our popular Vegetarian Starter Kit, free of charge to individuals interested in adopting humane food choices.
- Debuted Compassionate Living magazine – providing helpful tips, resources, recipes, interviews, advice, and exposés to tens of thousands of readers.
- Attracted over 450,000 visitors to ChooseVeg.com – our popular pro-vegetarian website, which includes dozens of streaming videos, featuring physicians, chefs and undercover investigations.
- Unveiled VegPA.net – MFA teamed up with Hugs for Puppies to create this one-stop site, listing over 200 Pennsylvania restaurants and grocers, catering to hungry diners with a taste for cruelty-free cuisine.
- Spoke out against the fur industry– MFA placed over 80 new anti-fur advertisements on the Washington, DC metrorail, reaching 2.5 million riders. MFA activists also staged headline-grabbing demonstrations in Chicago, Illinois and Cleveland, Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus, Ohio.
Mercy For Animals is dedicated to speaking up for animals, exposing the truth, and bringing about compassionate change in 2008.
As we enter the New Year, please stand strong by our side by making a tax-deductible, year-end donation.
