Denver, Protest to Speak Out Against Cruelty to Dairy CowsWednesday, October 1, 2014

Please join MFA at a demonstration in Denver to urge Leprino Foods to implement strict animal welfare guidelines for all of its dairy suppliers!

Leprino Foods is the world’s largest maker of mozzarella cheese and a supplier to virtually all major pizza chains in the country, including Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, and Domino’s.

MFA recently released shocking video footage from an undercover investigation at a factory farm that supplies milk for Leprino’s cheese. Using a hidden camera, an MFA investigator documented workers viciously kicking and beating animals with metal chains, stabbing them with screwdrivers, and repeatedly shocking injured cows in the genitals.

Following the investigation, over 200,000 consumers spoke out against this horrifying cruelty by signing a petition to Leprino Foods calling for change.

MFA’s director of investigations, Matt Rice, will deliver the petition signatures directly to Leprino’s office. At the same time, we will be holding a peaceful protest outside of Leprino’s corporate headquarters, urging the company to take a stand against egregious animal abuse on the part of its dairy suppliers.

The animals need your help!

We need people to hold signs, posters, and banners. The demo starts promptly at noon and will last approximately 30 minutes. Please arrive at 11:45 and dress professionally. Signs and posters will be provided.

For more info on this event, please email Mikael Nielsen, national volunteer coordinator, or call 773-971-3895.

Please join us, and bring your friends and family! Thank you for speaking up on behalf of animals.

Where: Leprino Foods, 1830 W. 38th Ave., Denver, CO
When: Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Phoenix, Leafleting at First Friday Art WalkFriday, October 3, 2014

The average vegetarian spares about 31 farmed animals each year (not to mention many more wild fish and shellfish), adding up to hundreds in a lifetime. Research has shown leafleting to be very effective at inspiring people to go vegetarian or to reduce their consumption of animal products. By educating the public about factory farming and veg eating, you can personally spare thousands of animals from a lifetime of misery.

If this is your first time leafleting, don’t worry! You can leaflet right next to one of the more experienced leafleters, who will guide you through the process and help make it fun and effective. Stay for as long or as short a time as you like. Look for Joe Hernandez, who will be wearing a Mercy For Animals messenger bag.
