30 Stars Under 30 Using Their Platform to Speak Up for Farmed Animals

These 30 young, talented musicians and actors are all different, but they have one thing in common: compassion. And they know that their fame can help them give a voice to the voiceless.

1. Miley Cyrus


A longtime vegan, the 25-year-old singer and actress has never shied away from showing her love for farmed animals and plant-based food!

2. Liam Hemsworth


A few years ago the 28-year-old Aussie actor told Men’s Fitness that he had gone vegan after learning the truth about factory farming. “After all the information I gathered about the mistreatment of animals, I couldn't continue to eat meat,” he said. “The more I was aware of, the harder and harder it was to do.”

The 21-year-old Disney star told People magazine, “My main reason for being a vegetarian is that I’m an animal lover—definitely NOT because I love vegetables.”

4. Ariana Grande


The 24-year-old pop star has been vegan for years. “I love animals more than I love most people, not kidding,” she says. “But I am a firm believer in eating a full plant-based, whole food diet that can expand your life length and make you an all-around happier person.”

5. Bella Thorne

Nikki Reed, the 29-year-old Twilight star, has used her voice many times to help farmed animals. In 2015 she and husband Ian Somerhalder celebrated the passage of Proposition 2, a California ballot initiative to reduce suffering for animals confined at factory farms.

8. Xavier Dolan


The acclaimed 28-year-old Canadian actor, director, screenwriter, editor, and costume designer has used his platform to help various animal charities. In 2015 Dolan tweeted an article about the connection between factory farming and climate change.

9. Emma Kenney


The 18-year-old Shameless star is a passionate animal activist. Last year Kenney attended MFA’s Hidden Heroes Gala and narrated the video Paper Prison, which shows the horrific reality of pig farming.

Known for her role on the Nickelodeon series Victorious, 29-year-old Daniella Monet is a die-hard vegan activist. From working on PSAs with various animal protection organizations to attending MFA’s Hidden Heroes Gala to launching her own vegan food video series on Facebook, Monet is a champion for farmed animals.

The adorable 11-year-old vegan actress loves animals and has worked with countless animal charities to lend her voice to the voiceless.

Nathalie Emmanuel is an English actress who plays Missandei on Game of Thrones. Last year she tweeted, “I will have been vegan for five years in September this year.” And the 29-year-old’s Instagram is full of vibrant vegan food pics that have us drooling.

17. Zoe Kravitz


The 29-year-old Big Little Lies star was raised vegan by her mom, Lisa Bonet, and is very conscious about what she eats. In 2016 she told Harper’s Bazaar that she ate “mostly vegan health food” and that she loved Souen and Angelica Kitchen in the East Village.

You probably know her as the newest star on Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things, but did you know the 15-year-old is also a passionate vegan? In a recent interview the young actress explains, “I actually was a vegetarian for about a year and when I was working on The Glass Castle with Woody Harrelson he and his family inspired me to become a vegan.”

This 29-year-old actress is known for her roles in the films Top Five, Fired Up!, and Hancock. She’s also a badass vegan activist who has modeled for MFA’s catalog and has been featured in a few of our videos.

22. Lauren Jauregui


Lauren Jauregui, member of the group Fifth Harmony, recently announced on Twitter that she was trying a vegan diet. Responding to a question about her workout routine, the 21-year-old singer tweeted: “I’ve actually just been eating cleaner. Trying my best to be vegan/plant based.”
