Boycotting the Olympics Over Korea’s Dog Meat? You Should See What Happens to Animals Here.

While most are laser focused on the athletes competing at the PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games, some have raised concerns over South Korea’s horrific dog meat industry.

Just miles away from the center of the PyeongChang Winter Games, hundreds of dogs, including St. Bernards and golden Labradors, await their fate in one of South Korea’s dog meat farms, where they’re kept in squalid cages until they’re slaughtered for food.
It makes sense that many Westerners are sickened by the very thought of eating dog meat. To them, dogs are family members to cuddle, take for walks, and give treats.

Obviously, Westerners are horrified by images of dogs in cages so tiny the animals can’t even turn around. But what about the millions of mother pigs and egg-laying hens cruelly confined in the exact same way? Graphic photos of a dog being slaughtered shock people who are unfazed by the violent killing of a chicken or other farmed animal.

The truth is, what we do to the cows, pigs, and chickens who end up on our plates isn’t any different than what South Korea does to dogs.

See for yourself.

As someone who grew up with a dog as his best friend, I understand this is a jagged pill to swallow.

Many people have never interacted with farmed animals one on one. But if given the chance, you’d see that like your companion animals at home, pigs delight in belly rubs, cows enjoy a good chin scratch, and chickens love to cuddle.

The lines we’ve drawn between species are unjustifiable. Our outrage over South Korea’s dog meat industry exposes a blatant hypocrisy we must face.

Thankfully, no one needs to eat animal products to survive. In fact, quite the opposite is true. Ditching animal products offers tremendous benefits for our health and the environment. Right now, millions of people are thriving on a delicious and humane plant-based diet.

So if you truly love dogs and see them as the unique, sensitive, and intelligent beings they are, it’s high time you opened your eyes and started seeing farmed animals the same way.

Let’s love and respect all animals and put an end to senseless cruelty. Get started by clicking here.
