According to The Huffington Post, a new draft of
Canada’s much-anticipated food guide heavily favors plant-based foods. It also excludes
dairy as a food group. This is great news for cows
who suffer at dairy farms.
The draft recommends “regular intake of vegetables, fruit,
whole grains and protein-rich foods, especially plant-based sources of protein
and takes the environment into consideration. “Diets higher in plant-based
foods and lower in animal-based foods are associated with a lesser
environmental impact.
It’s great to see the revised Canada food guide promote an
increase in fresh whole foods and a decrease in meat, eggs, and dairy products.
Animal products are not only linked to certain cancers,
heart disease, obesity, and other major diseases but also
come from animals tortured at
factory farms.
Animals raised and killed for food are just as smart and
sensitive as dogs and cats. But at factory farms, cows, pigs, and chickens are
subjected to unimaginable cruelty, including extreme confinement;
brutal mutilations; and bloody, violent deaths.
Watch.
Unfortunately, the draft is just a proposal; it isn’t final.
We urge you to click here and add a polite comment urging
Health Canada to encourage reduced meat consumption in favor of healthier, more
sustainable plant-based alternatives.
Thankfully, you don’t need to wait for governments to act.
By switching to a vegan diet, you can help animals, improve your health, and protect
the environment.
