According to
Bloomberg, the Campbell Soup Company has decided to join
vegan food lobbying group
the Plant Based Foods Association.
In the company’s
statement, Campbell Fresh president Ed Carolan said:
We are committed to providing our consumers with food choices that meet their nutrition, well-being, and lifestyle needs. Working together with the Plant Based Foods Association, we can advance our shared goal of bringing more plant-based foods to consumers.
The Plant Based Foods Association, which
launched early last year,
works to bring together like-minded companies and promote their products.
Campbell’s is now the largest company to join the association, and the company
hopes the partnership will help increase access to and sales of its plant-based
products.
This is definitely a
wise business move for the iconic soup company given the increasing demand for
vegan food.
Last month a study
commissioned by the Plant Based Foods Association and The Good Food Institute
revealed that the plant-based foods
market topped $3.1 billion in sales. And the research firm Global Data reports that veganism in America
has increased by 600 percent since 2014.
Additionally, Mintel
found that the number of vegan
products in Australia had increased by 92 percent since 2014, and Lux Research expects plant-based proteins to make up a third of the global
protein market by 2054.
This shift away from
meat, dairy, and eggs is great news for the countless animals who suffer at
factory farms. Cows, pigs, and chickens raised and killed for food are just as
smart and sensitive as the dogs and cats we adore at home. But at factory
farms, they’re subjected to unimaginable cruelties: extreme confinement, brutal mutilations,
and violent deaths.

who are taking a stand for animals, the environment, and their own health by switching to a vegan diet.
