Lucky Hen Escapes Cruel Fate

Sarah Von Alt September 17, 2014
A new series of photos highlights the cruel poultry industry
and a few birds who have been lucky enough to escape. On her site, photographer
Tamara Kenneally details the story of a “free-range hen who escaped slaughter
by hiding from factory farm workers.
“Pirate was so sick, it was thought she wouldn’t make it.
Her amazing carer worked around the clock with this girl to help her get back
to health. She had one eye that wasn’t able to open, hence her name, Kenneally
explains.
She continues, “All chickens like Pirate want is a chance to
live free of fear and pain, with the choice to live as they choose. Using them
for eggs and meat takes all these choices away from them. They aren’t ours to
use as we please.
All animals deserve consideration, and a life free from
harm. Ready to leave chicken off your plate for good? Check out ChooseVeg.com for delicious recipes and
tips on making the transition.
