Looking for an amazing business opportunity? If you’re
vegan, it might be right in front of you… at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
A recent article on The
Guardian.com highlights the entrepreneurial prospects presented by the
growing market for humane plant-based foods.
The author explains, “With a growing consumer interest in
plant-based healthy eating, vegetarian and vegan options present a chance new
business and competitive advantage.
With growing vegetarian populations around the world, it
should come as no surprise. Earlier this year, research found that a whopping one in eight
British adults now follows a vegetarian or vegan diet. In
Sweden, nearly 10 percent of the country now identifies as vegetarian or
vegan, and the number of vegan restaurants in Spain has doubled in
recent years.
And don’t forget the historic change in the Indian city of
Palitana, which has become the first
all-vegetarian city in the world.
But growing vegetarian populations aren’t the only reason
for this change in the market. Private investors are putting millions into food
start-ups like Beyond
Meat, which had Microsoft mogul Bill Gates singing its
praises, or Hampton Creek Foods,
which garnered the attention of Asia’s richest businessman, Li Ka-Shing, along
with a $23 million dollar investment.
As the popularity of vegan foods grows, more and more delicious
options are hitting
store shelves all the time. But with the amazing variety of products already on the market, there’s
never been a better time to ditch meat.
