By
now, you’ve probably seen at least one hidden-camera video exposing the daily
horrors animals face before they are killed for burgers, nuggets, and hot dogs.
But you’ve probably never seen anything like this before.
A
powerful new video recently released by the Israeli group Anonymous for Animal Rights is filmed from the point of
view of baby chicks “processed at a hatchery before being shipped off to
factory farms across the country.
Cameras
placed on the conveyor belt and other spots along the production line reveal
the terrifying first moments in the lives of the recently born hatchlings—at their
eye level.
Check
it out:
Sadly,
undercover investigations by Mercy For Animals at hatcheries in the United
States and Canada have revealed similar atrocities. At HyLine Hatchery, the largest hatchery for egg-laying breed chickens in the
world, we documented day-old chicks thrown, mutilated without painkillers, and
ground up alive in giant macerating machines.
At a
Butterball turkey hatchery in North Carolina, we caught workers cutting and burning
off the sensitive toes and beaks of birds without any painkillers, callously
throwing and dropping fragile animals, and tossing sick or injured turkeys into
a pit to be ground up alive.
In
August, Canada’s Hybrid Turkeys—the world’s largest primary turkey breeder—was
convicted of animal cruelty following the release of hidden-camera
video footage
showing workers kicking and throwing turkeys, crushing their spines with bolt
cutters, and viciously beating them with shovels and metal rods.
Luckily,
you don’t have to contribute to the suffering of chickens, turkeys, or any
other farmed animal. Simply leave them off your plate. For helpful tips and
