This Dancing With the Stars Alum Just Went Vegan

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Derek Hough announced that he’s adopted a vegan diet.

He spoke candidly about his new diet, saying he’s committed to plant-based eating with his girlfriend, Hayley Erbert.

In the interview, Derek said:
We both are trying the vegan thing right now and it’s actually really easy. People are like, “Is it hard? and I’m like, “nah. Living in LA, it’s actually hard not to be [vegan]. I feel great. I have a lot of energy, my skin has cleared up, I feel great.
Derek is the latest celeb to announce that he’s switched to a vegan diet. He joins vegan newbies Kylie JennerNe-Yo, Danielle Brooks, and Stephen Colbert.

Eating a plant-based diet is great for your health. In fact, study after study has shown that a plant-based diet not only improves longevity but also reduces your risk of heart disease, diabetes, stroke, obesity, and certain forms of cancer.

But the negative health effects of eating meat, dairy, and eggs are only part of the problem. Animals at factory farms are treated as mere objects, and their short lives are filled with violence and pain. Cows, pigs, and chickens are subjected to a nightmare of confinement, mutilation, torture, and slaughter.
