Cow's Courageous Escape Ends in Tragedy

Screen Shot 2013-12-18 at 11.46.47 AM.pngOne cow's desperate attempt to save her own life ended in tragedy last week.

In the Mexican town of San Luis Rio Colorado, a cow who was marked for slaughter courageously jumped over the railing of a restraining pen and went running through the town to find safety.

Sadly, 31-year-old Alejandro Garcia Martinez, an innocent bystander, was trampled to death in the process. When the cow was finally cornered, she was brutally shot by police.

This isn't the first time an animal about to be slaughtered has fled for her life. In fact, farmed animals cling to life just like any other animal would. They feel fear, pain and suffering just the same as the dogs and cats we love and cherish, yet they are treated as mere production machines on modern-day factory farms.

Heartbreaking incidents like this need never occur. If we choose to eat cruelty-free vegan fare, we avoid slaughter altogether.
