Mr. Sushi Commits to Eliminating Cages by 2022

Today we take a step toward eliminating cages in Mexico. Renowned restaurant chain Mr. Sushi committed to not using eggs from facilities that confine hens in cages, and it will complete the transition by 2022.

Mr. Sushi has 50 locations in Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Aguascalientes, Querétaro, Jalisco, Puebla, and Morelos.

After conversations with Mercy For Animals, Mr. Sushi recognized the importance of showing customers its concern for animal welfare and announced on its website a commitment that will help reduce intense suffering for thousands of animals. The commitment will also be an important example for other companies to implement similar policies.

At conventional farms, birds are kept in small wire cages where they can hardly move. This is one of the cruelest practices in the food industry.
