Number of Vegan Teenagers on the Rise Thanks to Instagram!

Citing a 350 percent increase in the number of vegans in the U.K. since 2006, a new article by The Guardian calls attention to the exponential growth of veganism among teenagers:
The movement is driven by the young—close to half of all vegans are aged 15–34 (42%), compared with just 14% who are over 65. When the Guardian asked people about being vegan, 67% of the 474 who replied were under 34, and more than one-sixth were teenagers. We heard from people as young as 14 espousing the purported virtues of quitting meat and dairy.
Profiling several teenage vegans, the author highlights their motivations, which include animal protection, sustainability, and improved health. Not surprisingly, many of the teens were exposed to vegan messages on social media, including Instagram and YouTube.

Most people have no idea how brutally factory farms abuse animals to bring us meat, dairy, and eggs. Social media is an incredibly easy and powerful way to share information that exposes friends and family to the truth and inspires change.

So what are you waiting for? You can help create a vegan world by sharing some of Mercy For Animals’ most powerful investigative footage:

Farm to Fridge: Narrated by James Cromwell, this compelling 12-minute film gives viewers an eye-opening look behind the closed doors of the nation’s factory farms and slaughterhouses.

What Cody Saw: One man’s search to uncover the truth puts his life on a course he never expected. This film features a former MFA undercover investigator.

Not veg yet? You can join the growing number of people who are taking a stand for animals, the environment, and their own health by transitioning to a plant-based diet.
