Compass Group USA Is Serving Up Cruelty—And Customers Are Speaking Out

I am a student at UNC Charlotte who has eaten the chicken catered by Compass Group, and I was somehow unaware of their continuing sourcing of Frankenchickens. It makes me sick to know that with my consumption of their chicken, I have indirectly contributed to their torture of these animals. The fact that such practices are still happening in 2026, and that Compass Group PLEDGED that they would not partake in them any longer, and yet here they are, is abhorrent.

As a sports fan who attends and eats at arenas frequently, I am horrified to learn that Levy is serving meat from Frankenchickens at some of my favorite sports venues. I hope Compass Group will meaningfully address this problem soon!

Chickens should not be growing far beyond what their legs can handle. This injustice needs to end now. We can not be supporting this.

I think it’s absolutely disgusting and inhumane what they’re doing to these chickens.

Being that we are a largely left-leaning student body and that the curriculum promoted to us reflects that, it seems hypocritical and performative to speak out against some causes and stay silent on others, especially where profit is concerned.

It is unfair that these birds should be deliberately bred with genes that guarantee them a life of suffering because their own bodies can’t support their own unnatural weight and rapid growth. Please do the right thing and stop supplying animal cruelty.

Eating as a college student is already so difficult; why should the only food option be meat that is bred through deliberate suffering? And chickens bred for meat in general already undergo so much suffering. Why do we need to add to that?

As someone who frequents the Moda Center, I’m shocked and disappointed to learn that their food supplier is serving meat from birds bred to suffer like this. Stop this horrific cruelty!

It really disturbs and shocks me that Compass Group is sourcing the cruel ‘Frankenchickens’, that lead to so much unnecessary suffering for chickens. Customers who are served by its clients deserve better. When I attended Fitchburg State University, their cafeteria was served by Chartwells. If I had known about this situation at that time, I would have immediately ceased use of the cafeteria.

As a lifelong 49ers fan, I am disappointed, and I implore you to ensure that chickens served as food at Levi’s Stadium are not bred too fast or to be unnaturally large.

Students like me are paying attention. We expect accountability, not excuses. Compass Group must stop stalling, honor its commitment, and take immediate, concrete steps to eliminate these cruel practices from its supply chain.

I strongly urge the college to ask Bon Appétit to fulfill its pledge to stop serving frankenchickens! As an institution of higher learning that values social and environmental good, it is critical that its foodservice provider also act decisively to improve animal welfare.

I do not want to be served Frankenchickens when I go to games at LoanDepot Park! I don’t like supporting animal cruelty. Levy needs to ban this practice.

Unnecessary animal suffering is never okay, and it’s disgusting that Compass Group doesn’t seem to care about the torture that Frankenchickens suffer through and is only focused on profit. No animal should be unable to stand and live without being able to move because of human actions.

Animals are living creatures and don’t deserve to suffer.

It makes me ashamed to say I went to Northwestern.

I have completely stopped eating the chicken here to protest, and I wish I had food that I felt comfortable and confident eating.

As a frequent visitor to Wrigley Field, I’m disappointed that Levy Restaurants is serving meat from birds bred to suffer. I expect a major food supplier like Compass Group to ban these cruel practices.

Not only is sourcing Frankenchickens a serious ethical abuse, but it is also substandard. Compass Group and Levy’s must do better.

Chartwells uses Frankenchickens in its supplies and supports a system of suffering and exploitation. Make Chartwells do better!

It is not right that these birds are born to suffer.
