Foster Farms, the infamous chicken producer responsible for a recent nasty salmonella outbreak, is back in the news again.
This time its Livingston poultry plant has been ordered by the USDA to suspend operations after the discovery of a cockroach infestation.
That same plant, along with two other Foster Farms facilities, were threatened with closure last fall for unsanitary conditions. At that time the company promised to clean up its act–obviously an empty promise.
From cockroaches to antibiotic-resistant bacteria and fecal foam, there’s no question that meat production is a dirty business.
