Undercover Investigations
At factory farms and slaughterhouses, farmed animals face shocking abuse, typically out of public view. But our undercover investigators capture on-the-ground and aerial footage of the cruelty that the industry tries to hide. Their findings drive transformative corporate and government policies that help pave the way for a just and sustainable food system.
Government Affairs and Public Policy
Few laws protect farmed animals, even though they deserve the same protection from cruelty as the dogs and cats we love. Our government affairs team secures local, state, federal, and international laws and policies that alleviate farmed-animal suffering and increase access to plant-based foods. The team also fights laws and policies that undermine these efforts.
Corporate Engagement
We move companies to commit to and implement higher welfare standards. Hundreds of companies have adopted impactful policies that improve conditions for chickens raised for meat, end cage confinement for hens used for eggs, and spare pigs and newborn calves the cruelty of crates. We push for published implementation plans and progress reports to ensure fulfillment of these vital reforms. Beyond this, we guide companies in reducing their reliance on animal products and adding plant-based items to their menus and product lines.
Organizing
Our organizing program empowers and coordinates animal activists, guiding them in taking campaign actions, organizing in their communities, and raising their voices online. In building a diverse, inclusive, and well-equipped movement, we also develop community volunteer leaders who expand our work to protect farmed animals and drive the shift toward plant-based eating.
Public Engagement
Our public engagement team plays a vital role in creating change by inspiring news stories from the world’s top media outlets, collaborating with influential celebrities, and using social media platforms to amplify our message and drive actions. We blend influence with impactful storytelling to motivate individuals and communities to take action for animals.
