Quality Egg investigation (2).jpg

Out of the “Questionable Science” file comes news of Ontario egg producers pledging $1 million in
research and development to fund clinical trials of a new antidepressant drug
derived from eggs.

The consumption of eggs has been tied to myriad health problems,
from its potentially detrimental effect on the outcome of severe mental
disorders, such as schizophrenia and depression, to recent research showing that egg consumption is nearly
as harmful to heart health as smoking tobacco.

It doesn’t take a scientist to recognize that illness and
disease are apt to follow the consumption of a product from birds confined
in cages to the point of near immobilization. Hens so intensively confined
suffer mental and emotional distress, broken bones, bloody open wounds,
untreated infections, and uterine prolapses, and are often left to continue
laying eggs for human consumption next to the rotting carcasses of their cage
mates.

As scientific research continues to show the harmful effects of egg consumption on human health, undercover investigations also continue to expose the horrific abuses hens and other farmed animals endure. Fortunately, preventing animal cruelty
and heart disease, and potentially even improving your chance of recovery from
depression, is easy with a plant-based diet.

On factory farms, […]
