California Dreaming: Veggie Pride Parade Takes Over LA

There is no doubt that the Los Angeles-area Veggie Pride Parade puts a whole new twist on getting dressed up in one’s Halloween finest. Mercy For Animals joined the fun for the parade’s second annual tour through downtown Santa Monica. Comedian, actor and animal advocate Hal Sparks delighted the crowd as Emcee for the afternoon and introduced the event’s special guest speakers, including MFA’s own Director of Investigations Daniel Hauff.

VPP photo.jpgDaniel shared the stage with animal rescuer Lorri Houston, whose sanctuary Animal Acres coordinated the event, as well as media guru Karen Dawn, whose Dawn Watch alerts are a must for advocates who wish to use their writing skills to influence the media.

Before the parade, attendees (and quite a few canine companions) enjoyed vegan food, cruelty-free vendors, live music and entertainment, and rubbing elbows with some the LA-area’s most active animal advocates.
