Explosion at Michigan Farm Kills 300 Pigs

Sarah Von Alt January 12, 2015
Earlier last week, hundreds of pigs died when an explosion
at a farm in Michigan sparked a major fire.
According to industry journal MeatPoultry.com,
“At least 300 pigs died in the blaze. Fire crews from more than four stations
battled the blaze, reportedly saving two of three livestock barns.
Pigs are considered one of the
smartest animals
on the planet. They can solve problems, use mirrors to
find hidden objects, and even play video games. Unfortunately, on today’s
factory farms, pigs are treated as mere meat-producing machines. Undercover
investigations by Mercy For Animals at factory farms around the country have
revealed a culture of cruelty and neglect.
Several times a year barn fires claim the lives of
defenseless farmed animals. This past October, thousands of mother and baby
pigs
perished
in a factory farm in Minnesota. And just a couple weeks before that, 4,000 pigs
burned
to death
in North Carolina.

The only way to prevent horrors like this is to
stop supporting the industry that perpetuates them. Choose to adopt a humane
vegan diet and do your part to help farmed animals. Visit ChooseVeg.com and get started.
