More people than ever are ditching animal products and
switching to a compassionate vegan diet. In fact, the USDA reports that 400 million fewer animals were slaughtered in 2014 than in 2007. With delicious plant-based products becoming more readily
available, there has never been a better time to switch!
But let’s be clear
about something: Veganism isn’t just some fad diet.
Veganism is a lot of things, but first and foremost it’s a lifestyle
that seeks to reduce animal suffering. Animals on factory farms are bred into a
world of unimaginable cruelties: extreme confinement, filthy conditions, and brutal
mutilations. And in the end, they’re all violently slaughtered.
Don’t believe us? Just watch this MFA undercover video from
an Oklahoma pork supplier that shows sick or injured animals left to suffer
without proper veterinary care, and workers violently mutilating piglets and
beating pigs.
If factory farmers treated just one dog or cat the way they
treat cows, pigs, chickens, and fish, they could be thrown behind bars.
Simply put, veganism is a lifestyle that promotes
compassion for animals. By going vegan, you are taking a strong
stand against animal abuse.
So while advertisers, the media, and some celebrities love to
market veganism as a quick way to slim down, it’s important not to lose sight
of what this movement actually represents.
If you love animals and see them as the unique, sensitive,
and intelligent beings they are, it’s time to consider joining this movement by
adopting a compassionate plant-based diet.
