Massive Egg Supplier to Manufacture and Distribute Vegan Egg

Hannah Bugga May 20, 2020
Plant-based company JUST—creators of the revolutionary JUST Egg—has announced a partnership with the world’s largest supplier of processed eggs, Post Holdings’ Michael Foods. This means that Michael Foods will be the exclusive manufacturer, supplier, and distributor of JUST Egg to foodservice and ingredient customers interested in plant-based products.
Thanks to this partnership, JUST Egg will soon be available to millions more consumers throughout the United States. Andrew Noyes, JUST’s head of global communications, stated:

We believe this is the largest-scale example of an animal protein company committing to make and distribute a plant-based product—ever. It’s an exciting moment for our startup and very relevant to how the food sector is evolving generally and in light of current events.

Post Holdings has been in the breakfast business for more than 100 years, but this partnership marks an exciting moment in the future of food. Mark Westphal, president of Michael Foods, said in a statement:

We are excited about this new partnership. Working together, we are bringing innovation and options to the food industry.

JUST has been on a roll. Their delicious vegan egg is available at retailers and grocery stores across the country, including Walmart, Whole Foods, Safeway, and Kroger. And just last year, the company sought to lower the cost of their products by acquiring a 30,000-square-foot production facility in Appleton, Minnesota. Situated on 40 acres of land, the new facility made JUST the largest private employer in the city!
Currently, JUST Egg comes in a folded patty ideal for breakfast sandwiches and a pourable form perfect for omelets and scrambles. All of JUST’s products are plant-based, cholesterol-free, and created with protein-rich mung beans. According to a joint press release, JUST’s vegan egg is not only healthier for humans and kinder to chickens—its ingredients “use 98 percent less water, 86 percent less land, and emit 93 percent less CO2 than conventional eggs.
