Newsweek Documentary Asks, Will We All Be Vegan One Day?

Ari Solomon December 21, 2018
As part of its new five-part documentary series looking at
how society could change in the near future, Newsweek premiered a
12-minute short documentary
that examines the current vegan movement and
how society as a whole could move away from consuming animal products.
Narrated by Alexis Wierenga, the doc discusses the rise of
plant-based eating and delves into the environmental degradation and food waste
inherent in animal agriculture. It also dispels some nutritional myths about a
vegan lifestyle and profiles an inspiring plant-based initiative called Forward
Food. Additionally, Just CEO Josh Tetrick talks about the future of meat and
his company’s work to bring clean meat, or meat that requires no animal
slaughter, to market.
It’s great to see Newsweek
focusing on veganism as a way to help safeguard
our planet
, feed
billions of people
, and stop
animal cruelty
. In the past few years we’ve seen a major market shift and
an abundance of plant-based meat, dairy, and egg products. Additionally, the
number of people identifying as vegan or choosing more plant-based foods has boomed
in the United States
and Canada.
This is all great progress, but it is up to us to keep this
trend growing. By recommending
documentaries
to our families and friends, sharing undercover videos
on social media, and showing everyone how easy
and delicious it is to eat plant-based
, we can influence countless people.
Billions of farmed animals are cruelly exploited and
violently slaughtered every single year. Most of these animals will never know
what it’s like to feel the grass beneath their feet or the sun on their faces. Many
are not even able to fully extend their limbs.
With millions of people already switching to a vegan lifestyle, there has never been a better
time. For tips, recipes, and support,
