Since Offering More Vegan Options, Pret’s Sales Have Skyrocketed 70 Percent!

According to Forbes,
London-based sandwich chain Pret A Manger has seen a 70 percent increase in sales since expanding and adding
vegetarian stores and plant-based options.
In 2015 Pret’s CEO wrote a blog asking customers for ideas
on how to create delicious veg options, and he received a ton of suggestions.
In fact, over 10,000 customers responded, including Sir Paul McCartney. A
whopping 96 percent of responders wanted an all-veggie Pret store or a veggie
booth within the stores.
Last June, Pret introduced all-vegetarian stores, first in
London and eventually in Hong Kong and the United States.
The company’s CEO, Clive Schlee, wrote in response:

The top selling eight new products
at Veggie Pret are all vegan, which either shows that vegan dishes can be just
as delicious as veggie dishes, or we have underestimated how strong the vegan
movement is.

Pret’s success is further evidence that more people than
ever are ditching animal products in favor of plant-based foods. Over the past
decade, veganism has seen consistent growth as millennials—the world’s largest
generation—purchase their own food. Concerned about the environment, animal
welfare, and their health, this generation boasts more self-identifying vegetarians than
any other, according to The New York Times.
Fewer people eating meat, dairy, and eggs is great news for
the billions of farmed animals who suffer immensely at factory farms. Cows,
pigs, and chickens raised and killed for food are subjected to unimaginable
cruelties: extreme confinement, brutal mutilations, and violent deaths.
See for yourself.
With plant-based options now more widely available, it’s
never been easier to switch to a compassionate vegan diet. Click here to get started!
