Report: Vegan Products Up 68 Percent From Last Year

Joe Loria March 2, 2017
Food Business News recently highlighted the surge of vegan products filling grocery store shelves.
Research firm Innova Market Insights found there were 320 launches of products with a “plant-based claim in the U.S. in 2016. This is up 68 percent from 220 launches in 2015.
“People want to know how protein ingredients are associated with local sourcing, ethical treatment of animals and environmental issues, states the article. “These changes are not a fad, added Steve Walton, president of HealthFocus International. “They are a permanent lifestyle.”
This is all part of a worldwide shift from animal products.
Earlier this year, NBC reported that Google searches for “vegan” increased by 33 percent in the past year alone. This is slightly higher than the increase from 2015 to 2016.
A few months ago, New York-based firm Baum + Whiteman predicted an uptick in vegan meat sales in its 2017 food and restaurant forecast.
This is great news for the billions of farmed animals who suffer immensely on factory farms. Simply by going vegan, you can spare up to 30 animals each year. Join the millions of people taking a stand against animal cruelty and make the switch to a compassionate vegan diet.
