A crushing viral video posted by Boxtel Pig Save shows a compassionate animal
rights activist singing a lullaby to a pig on a transport truck en route to a
slaughterhouse.
In the video you can see the activist gently
stroking the exhausted and scared animal while she sings.
The heart-wrenching video garnered comments
from those who watched. One person wrote, “Crying here—just like a
baby.” Another commenter said, “This darling knows and responds to
touch and love—and to think this baby will just be tortured and all for someone
to have bacon—so so terribly sad.”

Sadly, millions of farmed animals are
transported each day from farms to slaughterhouses. These journeys can take
several days, which means that animals are trapped for extended periods in
overcrowded, filthy trucks.
Many
times, factory-farmed animals see the sun only on the transport truck to
slaughter.
During the trip, animals are subjected to
extremes of temperature and weather, enduring scorching heat or freezing cold. And
as if this weren’t terrible enough, these animals are often forced to go days
without food, water, or rest. Many animals arrive at slaughterhouses injured,
sick, or dead.
Multiple Mercy For Animals investigations have
documented firsthand the cruel conditions farmed animals endure in transport.
An investigation of Western
Hog Exchange in Alberta, for instance, showed frightened animals
being transported hundreds of kilometers in sweltering heat, suffering from
heat stress and dehydration. Workers repeatedly used electric prods to shock
“downed pigs.
Watch.
In all the ways that matter, farmed animals
are like dogs, yet we relegate them to a life of intense and unrelenting cruelty.
The fact is, if we treated just one dog the way the meat industry treats
billions of animals, we’d be behind bars for animal abuse.
