2018 Is Already Vegan AF. Here’s the Proof.

Joe Loria January 23, 2018
A few months ago, leading hospitality consulting firm Baum +
Whiteman published its 2018
Food & Beverage Forecast
, which predicts that vegan food will be a
megatrend of the coming year—and the forecast hit the nail right on the head!
Here’s the proof.
The year kicked off on quite a high note with more than
100,000 people pledging to go vegan, a new record for Veganuary.
Joining those making the switch to a vegan diet are
A-listers Sterling K. Brown and Will.I.am. On New Year’s Eve, This Is
Us
star Sterling
K. Brown told CNN that his new year’s resolution was to go vegan
. And Black
Eyed Peas band member Will.I.am
shared on Instagram
that he had joined what he calls the “V.Gang, explaining
that he was “tired of being pimped by food companies.
What’s more, Cargill, one of the world’s largest meat
producers, announced it had recently signed a joint venture
agreement with the leading North American pea protein maker
. This is major,
considering pea protein is one of the fastest-growing plant-based proteins.
This announcement comes just months after Cargill
invested in clean meat producer Memphis Meats
.
And Domino’s
Australia can’t keep up with demand
for its recently introduced vegan
cheese. That’s right, the pizza chain literally keeps selling out of vegan
cheese.
Additionally, Bareburger announced this month that it would remove
two meat burger options and add the vegan Beyond Burger
to the menu. This
makes the burger joint the first restaurant to offer both the Beyond and the
Impossible burgers!
Veganism has seen consistent growth over the past decade as
millennials—the world’s largest generation—purchase their own food. Concerned
about the environment, animal welfare, and their health, this generation boasts more self-identified vegetarians than
any other
, according to The New York Times.
The popularity of veganism is great news for the countless
animals who suffer at factory farms. Despite being just as smart and sensitive
as the dogs and cats we adore at home, cows, pigs, and chickens raised and
killed for food are brutally mutilated and confined in filthy, barren cages before
meeting a terrifying death.
Sounds awful, right? Watch.
Join the millions of people who are taking a stand for animals, the environment, and their own health by choosing to go vegan.

A study by researchers at the University of Waterloo, the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaiso, and Chile’s University of Valparaiso found that vaccines commonly used at fish factory farms are useless because tanks are rife with waste and disease.
