Barn Fire Kills Over 130K Baby Chicks, Reporter Offers Farmer Condolences for Loss… of “Crop”

Joe Loria June 15, 2017
According to the West Fargo Pioneer, a barn fire in
Minnesota killed over 130,000 chicks this past weekend.
A passerby reported the fire at the industrial chicken farm
late Sunday afternoon. Owner Amos Baer said around 134,000 chicks were in the
barn. He believes most of them died in the blaze. No humans were injured.
In a video interview with Baer, a reporter from West Fargo Pioneer tells the farmer he’s
sorry about the lost “crop.
Crop? These were tens
of thousands of innocent, sentient animals who were burned alive!
Farmed animals, including chickens, feel fear and pain just
like the dogs and cats we love at home. But sadly, tragedies like this are incredibly
common. Thousands of animals perish every year in barn fires. In fact, just
this Tuesday thousands
of pigs died in a fire
in northern Kansas. An estimated 2,000 mother pigs and
7,000 piglets were killed.
Whether killed in a barn fire or a slaughterhouse, all
farmed animals face unspeakable cruelties: extreme confinement, brutal
mutilations, and violent deaths.
See for yourself.
