Canadians have a rare opportunity right now to help shape how cows are treated on farms across the country — and most people don’t even know it’s happening!
The National Farm Animal Care Council is currently revising its Beef Code of Practice, which sets the baseline standards for the housing, handling, and management of beef cattle in Canada. These standards directly affect the daily lives of millions of animals, influencing everything from living conditions to how they are transported and cared for.
This is one of the few moments where the general public can weigh in on how these animals are treated.
Mercy For Animals is encouraging Canadians to take a few minutes to participate in the public comment period before the June 12th deadline. Even brief submissions can help advocate for stronger protections and ensure that animal welfare is meaningfully reflected in the final code.
