Canadians Give Milk the Cold Shoulder

highlights Canada’s growing trend away from the consumption of milk. In fact,
milk consumption has fallen a dramatic 25 percent as consumers opt for
plant-based alternatives, such as almond milk and soy milk.
After commissioning a survey to determine the reason
Canadians are ditching dairy, Dairy Farmers of Canada discovered that a
whopping 10 percent of those surveyed reported that they had gone vegan and another
8 percent expressed their desire not to support an industry they considered
cruel.
Indeed, the dairy industry is unconscionably cruel. Mercy
For Animals recently uncovered horrific abuse of dairy cows during an
investigation at Chilliwack Cattle Sales, Canada’s largest dairy factory farm.
MFA’s undercover video taken at Chilliwack revealed cows
being viciously kicked, punched, and beaten, and many sick or injured cows being
hoisted by their necks using chains and tractors. Just take a look:
