Former Burger King Chairman Renounces Meat

Sarah Von Alt December 8, 2014
According to Upstart,
former Burger King chairman Brian Swette is the force behind Sweet Earth
Natural Foods: a relatively new company focused on providing healthy
plant-based proteins.
The
article explains, “From the looks of its products, which include seitan, veggie burritos,
and quinoa and lentil burgers, it would be hard to guess that its founder was
once a board chairman of Burger King and a top executive
at PepsiCo. But that’s exactly the case.
The author continues, “Brian
and Kelly Swette launched the company about two years ago, operating out
of a 35,000-square-foot site in Moss Landing. Since then, they’ve produced
425,000 pounds of plant-based proteins, which is the equivalent of 280,000
chickens.
Not
only is this terrific news for animals; it highlights the growing business
opportunities within the vegan food market, which are directly linked to
increasing interest in vegetarian eating!
