A study published in the Journal
of Atherosclerosis Research found that regular egg consumption
could put your health at grave risk.
The average American consumes about 247 eggs every year.
This is over 40 percent more than the world per-capita
average. Because egg yolks are loaded with cholesterol, a known risk factor
for coronary artery disease and heart attacks, they are as dangerous as
cigarettes according to scientists.
Canadian researchers examined 1,231 patients with an average
age of 62. They used ultrasound measurements of the carotid arteries to
establish the presence and quantity of atherosclerotic plaque. Smoking was
measured in “pack-years” and egg yolk consumption in “egg yolk-years.”
The results were mind blowing. Researchers found that eating
one egg per day was just as bad for your heart as smoking five cigarettes per
day! A single large egg contains more than 180 mg of cholesterol, and the
average American consumes almost five eggs per week. No wonder heart disease is
the number one killer.
Egg production is as
cruel as eggs are unhealthy.
One of the most egregious cruelties of egg production is the
extreme confinement of hens. Most hens live out their lives in barren battery
cages with less floor space than the size of a sheet of notebook paper. What’s
more, because male chicks don’t lay eggs or grow quickly enough to be raised
profitably for meat, they are often killed within hours of hatching. Some
are ground up alive while others are gassed
or suffocated.

Ridge Egg Farms, one of Canada’s largest egg producers.
The best way to protect your health and innocent chickens
from a lifetime of misery is to switch to a healthy and compassionate
plant-based diet.
