Legendary Jane Goodall Criticizes Cruel Factory Farms

Sarah Von Alt October 3, 2014
At a recent talk at the University of Southern Florida, Jane
Goodall discussed factory farms, among other issues.

According to Creative
Loafing Tampa
, Goodall “talked about how the long-term impact of
genetically modified food, of the antibiotics ingested through food, is unknown
worldwide. She also said ‘heavy meat eating’ is linked to deforestation since ‘huge
areas are cleared’ to grow grain for livestock, and to make sure they have a
place to graze.
Well-known for her work with chimpanzees, Jane Goodall was
one of the first people to really look into the lives of animals. Throughout
her life she has encouraged people to consider what the lives of animals are truly
like, and to act compassionately.
“‘Once you know what’s going on … (you wonder) what
is it doing to us and these people who operate these concentration camps for
animals?’ the article quotes Goodall.
We can all take a stand for animals by leaving them off our
plates. For more information, including a meal plan and delicious vegan
