Salon: 6 Reasons to Ditch Meat

Sarah Von Alt October 3, 2014
A recent article published by Salon
details the many serious and terrifying reasons to stop eating meat.

The author acknowledges the widespread animal cruelty and
environmental degradation, and then delves deeper, producing a list of six
things that might make you rethink the way you eat.
The concerns raised include faster slaughterhouse lines, rampant
factory farm fires, ag-gag laws, and the Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus (PEDv)
that has killed 7 millions pigs (mostly piglets) since 2013.
Salon also
highlights the
recent
indictment of a California slaughterhouse
, Rancho Feeding Corp., where
workers hid evidence of cancer in cows, including by switching their heads, in
an attempt to sell meat that was potentially diseased.
And one of the more alarming and less widely known facts is that
growth additives are being used that are bad for animals and the people who eat
them. You can read the full article
