Vegans and non-vegans alike are shouting from the rooftops:
“Yo Quiero Taco Bell.
Taco Bell made history when the American Vegetarian
Association certified 13 of its menu items and 35 ingredients as vegetarian (26
ingredients are actually vegan)—a first for a quick-service restaurant.
“We know that our
customers are more engaged and more curious about their food than ever before,
and with an AVA certification—the recognized standard of vegetarian assurance—those
looking for meat-free options can be confident in their choices, said a Taco
Bell spokesperson.
Thirty-three
percent of the public currently eats vegetarian meals a significant amount
of time. Many of these people are looking for healthier, more sustainable, and
ethical options, and smart companies are happy to comply. People in cities big and small can enjoy healthy and
delicious alternatives to meat, dairy, and eggs.
Some of the newly certified menu items,
which can easily be made vegan, include 7-Layer
Burrito, Bean Burrito, Black Bean Burrito, Black Beans & Rice, Cantina
Power Veggie Bowl or Burrito, and Double Tostada.
When national chains
offer vegan options it’s good news for animals. It means millions will be
spared from lives of misery.
