Animal advocates around the world are gearing up for the next Great American Meatout on March 20. Through vegan food samplings, leafleting events, film screenings, educational exhibits, and more, activists will bring the message of compassion for farmed animals directly to consumers in their communities.
This year, Mercy For Animals is celebrating Meatout by showing consumers just how easy vegetarian cooking can be. In Chicago, MFA’s Kenny Torrella recently joined Chef Kendall Huff from Native Foods Café on WGN’s Lunchbreak as she prepared an appetizing portobello and “sausage” burger. “Going vegetarian is a great way to help animals, improve your health, and help the planet,” Torrella said.
In New York City, Telemundo’s Al Amanecer con Jackie featured MFA’s Eddie Garza alongside celebrity journalist Carlos Anaya and V-Spot’s Chef Danny Carabano to show the Latin community that a vegan lifestyle is not only good for our health, but also good for the animals. The Spanish-language program is the most widely viewed Latin morning show in the greater New York City area.
On Monday, March 19, Dallasites can tune in to FOX’s Good Day Dallas to watch MFA’s Texas Campaign Coordinator Nora Kramer and vegan cooking coach Kathryn Lorusso as they give Texans tips on going meat-free.
Along with these exciting cooking demos, all of MFA’s campaign offices will be hosting “Paid-Per-View” screenings throughout the week of the Great American Meatout. Click here to see our upcoming events.
There are many other ways you can help expose consumers to the realities of modern agriculture. Consider ordering our eye-opening literature to distribute in your own community, and be sure to check out our action center for tips on getting involved.
