The following statement may be attributed to Arash Yomtobian, President of Mercy For Animals :
The way we treat our planet and all its inhabitants is one of the greatest moral and evolutionary tests of our time, and right now, the stakes could not be higher. Factory farming inflicts immense suffering, fuels environmental breakdown, and threatens the health and well-being of people and the planet alike. Transforming this system isn’t optional; it’s essential for a just and livable future.
In recent years, I’ve felt a deep personal frustration with myself, watching the world’s crises intensify and realizing I could be doing more. I grew tired of talking about the problems without committing more of my energy to solutions. Joining Mercy For Animals as president is my way of turning that urgency into action for a cause I believe is among the most critical of our time. I strongly believe that many of the conflicts we face—and the injustices people protest—could be diminished, or even eradicated, if we awakened to our shared sentience.
For nearly a decade, I’ve lived my commitment to compassion as an ethical vegan. For over two decades, I’ve led global teams at Google, Meta, and TikTok; navigated complex change in investment banking and private equity; and guided nonprofit boards and entrepreneurial ventures. I’ve had the privilege of roles and opportunities that have shown me how bold vision, strong systems, and aligned purpose can achieve extraordinary transformations.
Mercy For Animals’ mission to create a sustainable and compassionate food system resonates deeply. I join with humility and conviction, ready to work alongside everyone who is committed to accelerating the shift toward empathy and justice for all beings.
