The following statement regarding the reintroduction of the Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression (EATS) Act may be attributed to AJ Albrecht, managing director, U.S. & Canada, Mercy For Animals.
“Mercy For Animals is disgusted by pro-pork lawmakers’ latest blatant attack on U.S. animal protection laws in response to the Supreme Court’s historic upholding of Prop 12. The Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression (EATS) Act, if passed, would increase suffering for the vast majority of land animals raised for food in the United States and reverse decades of progress for hens, pigs, and calves. It would invalidate crucial anti-confinement laws in numerous states throughout the country and could prevent other states from adopting similar policies in the future. We’re calling on U.S. animal advocates to contact their members of Congress and urge them to oppose the EATS Act. Together we can #DefeatEATS.”
