This Is Why Mercy For Animals Works on Animal Welfare Campaigns

Ari Solomon April 10, 2018
Mercy For Animals is and will always be a vegan
organization. Period. We advocate veganism in a myriad of ways: from our
groundbreaking videos and social media campaigns to our innovative websites and
more. We will never endorse the myth
of humane meat, dairy, or eggs
.
In addition to promoting veganism, we mount campaigns
aimed at pushing companies to adopt meaningful animal welfare policies.
This is why:
At this very moment literally billions of cows, pigs, chickens, fish, and other animals are suffering
at factory farms. While such astronomical numbers may be impossible to imagine,
we must remember that these are real animals. They are thinking, feeling
individuals. And while we work hard toward the day when no animal has to become
a person’s meal, we also know there’s more we can do. We can help the animals
who are exploited suffer less.
Through our corporate engagement work, we are able to reduce suffering for millions of animals every year. Will these animals still be
slaughtered? Yes. Is this reduction the endgame? Hell no. But for each one of
these animals, it can make a huge difference.
Put yourself in a mother pig’s place for a minute: You live nearly
your entire life trapped in a cage where you can’t even turn around; you
literally go insane from the torment. Would you argue that you wouldn’t want to
be let out, that life wouldn’t be better if you could actually walk around, stretch
your legs, or simply move more than a step without bumping into the bars of your
cage?
Some mistakenly argue that by working to reduce suffering at
factory farms, we’re somehow promoting the consumption of meat, dairy, and
eggs. But nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, data suggests that
public animal welfare campaigns actually result in a drop in sales of
animal products.
Let us be clear: We will never stop promoting veganism and
encouraging everyone to ditch meat, dairy, and eggs. But we also have an
obligation to help alleviate animal suffering wherever it is and lessen the daily hell.
If you have more questions, feel free to contact us. We’re proud of
our work and will never stop fighting to end the cruelty farmed animals endure.

for all is simply to stop eating animals. Click here for everything you need to get
