Wow! This NYC Vegan Restaurant Is Giving All Its Proceeds to Charity

Julie Cappiello August 11, 2017
New York City just welcomed a new vegan restaurant that strives to help animals, the environment, and marginalized people in the city and around the world.

P.S. Kitchen, located in Midtown, works “to leverage the power of good food and an open heart to lovingly serve clients, employees, society and the earth, according to its website.

Formerly the chef at Avant Garden, one of Ravi DeRossi’s vegan restaurants, Executive Chef Gary Barawidan joined two co-owners of established vegan restaurant chain Terri’s to create P.S. Kitchen.
The restaurant’s menu is elegant, with vegan versions of classic dishes like burgers made with the Beyond Meat patty and dairy-free queso cheese, orzo alfredo, strawberry shortcake, and various brunch options—perfect for those late Sunday mornings.
But not only is P.S. Kitchen helping animals and the environment by committing to an all-vegan menu; it’s also donating all its proceeds to charity. AM New York reports:

“This is more than a restaurant and the postscript reflects that there is more to the story, partner Craig Cochran said. “P.S. We donate all profits to charitable organizations. P.S. We hire staff from underprivileged backgrounds, he added. … “P.S. All food and drink is plant-based.”

Across the United States and around the world, P.S. Kitchen partners with nonprofits focused on self-sustainability. The Doe Fund, for example, helps “provide support and career training to people with histories of homelessness, incarceration, and substance abuse. CEEDS (Cooperative for Economic Empowerment and Development Services), another partner, works to “empower underserved immigrant women to take stabilizing steps into safe, sustainable, and meaningful employment.

With a total of five nonprofit partners, P.S. Kitchen truly places its values before its bottom line—something we can all support. But New York vegan restaurants aren’t the only ones giving back. Moby’s Little Pine, located in Los Angeles, is also vegan and donates 100 percent of its proceeds to animal rights organizations.

With more vegan restaurants like P.S. Kitchen and Little Pine opening, it’s never been easier to enjoy compassionate, animal-free meals.
