Meat Consumption in Canada Plummets

Sarah Von Alt September 22, 2015
According to the Globe
and Mail
, the number of Canadians ditching meat is on the rise!
“Annual per-capita meat consumption has declined since 1999,
led by a 31-per-cent drop in pork and a 19-per-cent reduction in beef, even
though disposable incomes rose steadily in the same period, the article
explains.
This should come as no surprise. Results from a 2013 survey
found that there was a nearly 10 percent drop in meat consumption in Canada
between 2001 and 2013.
While a variety of factors has contributed to this decline,
increased awareness of the treatment of animals on modern farms has undoubtedly
played a part.
Video footage recently obtained and released by Mercy For
Animals Canada revealed the sickening cruelty involved in Canadian pork
production.
See for yourself:
Canadians have never been more aware of the impact of their
dietary choices on themselves, the environment, and the animals who suffer
needlessly for the production of meat, dairy, and eggs.
The best way to help safeguard animals from abuse is simply to
leave meat, dairy, and eggs out of your diet. For tips and delicious vegan
